Christmas 2020 – Simple ways to have a Cheap Covid 19 Christmas 2020 without feeling like you have been a cheapskate.
1. Set a Spending Limit for Gifts
We all have so much stuff, and really do we need more unwanted items? Christmas should be about togetherness and spending time with loved ones.
As we know it is more about the children counting how many presents, they get and comparing. Wy not just limit to the children this Christmas and communicate your buying gifts decision with the family.
Set a limit for everyone you’re buying for and stick to it. Get creative with your limit, maybe you could add a handmade gift, like baked goods or a framed photograph of the two of you, to “round out” the gift.
The local markets have some amazing locally unique and handmade gifts or a place for inspiration. Look on Facebook marketplace and gumtree for some new and different gift ideas.
2. Bring a Plate or Offering
When it comes to entertaining, there is plenty of ways to save on expenses.
“I know it’s sometimes hard to ask,” “but guests really do like to bring something, so let them!”
There is nothing wrong with asking a guest who has a favourite dish or dessert who would jump at the chance to bring.
What about guests who don’t like cooking? They could bring decorations, flowers, bonbons etc for the table.
It all adds up and it will take off some of the pressure, both in terms of money and your effort and time. So the day does not have to be as stressful and exhausting on the host.
